Seeking Sand Jam Volunteers

If anyone is interested in working Sand Jam, we need people to work as scorekeepers and also doing the lines. There will be some compensation along with the Sand Jam t-shirt and pass for the entire event.

1. Train to Develop and Compete - CO-ED

               July 2-4

               3 Age Groups: 8-10, 11-13, 14-16

               Residence is an option

               *for any athlete not attending the EDC - who doesn't want to miss out

2. Prospects - (technical, video analysis, fueling for performance, strength and conditioning, mental skills)

               July 28-31

               Age Group: 16-18

               Residence is an option

               *We currently have some high level athletes interested in pursuing volleyball at the post-secondary level attending from both within province and out of province

Super Sonic Rice Bags for sale - $15 each!

Enjoy the cozy warmth of a microwaveable rice bag to soothe sore muscles, warm chilly fingers and toes and take away aches and pains.  It’s about the size of a hot water bottle, and will last for years – even if used daily.

The bags are constructed of blue denim and filled with rice.  They usually take about three minutes to heat in a microwave.  Note the volleyball ribbon detail on the bag – it can be ordered in green, yellow or pink with white volleyballs, or bright rainbow stripes (no volleyball).

U14Tier 1 Gold medal finish against Fusion-Muise in the Skyhawks Invitational. A complete 9 member solid gold team effort..Way to go girls! 

U14 Tier 1 Win Gold in Truro

Congratulations to the Sonics U-14 Tier 1 team for their Gold medal finish in the Truro Lynx Tournament....a special shout out to Lori Comeau for her hard work on the court, and to Amy Perry for her strong Service points in every game that got our team to a gold medal finish.

Congratulation Derek Brooks- CCAA Coach of the Year!

Derek has received Coach of the Year for the Canadian College Athletic Association. His Mount Saint Vincent girls team begin play in the CCAA Nationals today at Seneca College in Toronto. Below is a link to a brief blurb in today's Chronicle Herald.

Congratulations to U14 tier 1 team who earned silver at the Sonics Invitational tournament on the weekend!

vs Digby: Abigail Grobmeier -11 consecutive service points in one set

vs Sackville game 1: Jordan Burley - 9 service points

vs Fusion t2: Amber MacNeil - 12 service points, 7 assists and great improvement on her communication and aggressive play

vs Fusion t1: Jade MacDonald - 2 kills, 4 digs and great communication with the team calling the ball and also showing great leadership on the court throughout the tournament

vs Sackville (semi-final): Melanie Sheldon - 2 kills, 5 service points and a great energy during the game.  Staying positive and supporting her teammates on and off the court!

*Amber MacNeil also had 20 service points in the match and a key block

vs Fusion t1 (final) - Melanie Sheldon - Great positive attitude and energy going into the final, great support to her teammates and never gave up on a play

*Tournament MVP goes to Melanie Sheldon for her overall improvement the last few weeks in practices and games.  She played very well this weekend and kept a smile on her face every step of the way.  She showed great leadership in her positive attitude and getting the girls fired up with her excitement.  Congratulations Melanie, keep up the good work!!

U15 Tier 1 team Won the Skyhawks Tournament

Sackville beat the Skyhawks  in an exciting final match in 2 straight sets 25-22, 25-22.

Game MVP's were:
Amber MacNeil - 14 service points in one match & played every point of the tournament as the only setter
Abigail Grobmeier -Tournament MVP for all-around play.  She had great transitions from passing to getting outside for her approach,  and very consistent serving
Lexi Crowell - Outstanding defensive play and passing throughout the tournament, but especially in the final against the Skyhawks protecting the line in the back court.
Jade MacDonald - Great communication with her teammates and excellent passing throughout the tournament.
